We visited Victoria on Vancouver Island over the holidays and took the ferry over!
On the way to the island, we unfortunately could not stay in the car during the trip. You're only allowed to stay in the car if you get a spot on the upper deck of the ferry.
On the way back, we made a reservation so we parked on the upper deck and avoided going inside the ferry.
I remember the ferry staff had to announce several times to wear masks properly while onboard. With covid cases increasing we preferred staying in the car for the ferry ride.
We stayed outside Victoria in the suburbs but we spent the last day of 2021 checking out downtown Victoria.
Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, is located on the southern end of Vancouver Island.
Our morning in Victoria was really chilly, so with a coffee in hand, we had to keep moving to stay warm.
We walked along the waterfront, and did a loop to see a few city sights like the Parliament building.
It was so cold, the fountain froze like Elsa from that Disney movie, Frozen, when Elsa got mad ...
After our stroll and taking photos of the snowy downtown, we grabbed a "Beaver Tail" (flat donut sprinkled with cinnamon sugar). One kid even napped during our walk!
The Empress hotel looks like a palace! And it's even more beautiful in the snow. I remember visiting this hotel whenever we visited Victoria in my childhood.
We walked down one street with soo many gift shops. Tourist street for sure!
On the way back to the Suburbs, we stopped by Tim Horton's for some donuts and snacks! 🍩 🍩 🍩
Even if it was so chilly that day, there were many people out enjoying the sunshine. It was a nice morning in Victoria on the last day of 2021!
Have you visited Victoria, BC?
Thanks for reading and remember, don't forget your snacks!
