Japanese Curry lunch, just what a Chilly Winter day needs. Mr. Japanese Curry in Vancouver, is a great lunch spot offering tasty Japanese Curry dishes!

They have everything from Vegetarian Curry to the popular Chicken Katsu Curry.

The staff does a nice job explaining which options and side dishes are available.

Pickled veggies side dish 

You can add extra toppings and change the spice level. For those who don't like a lot of spice, Spice Level 2 is mild. Spice Level 3 is actually spicy! Make it a combo with a miso soup and a drink.

The restaurant offers indoor seating, tables and a few windows stools as well, but it's a small place and a bit tight. With the Japanese music playing in background, it really feels like being in Japan with a small, cozy restaurant feel.

Your lunch order is served to your table with water. You can grab your own cutlery at the side.

There are even a few dessert options available like Matcha Tiramisu.

We really enjoyed our meal at this Japanese curry spot. It's a popular lunch option with many people ordering takeout.

Cafe Artigiano Vancouver

 

Vancouver cafe, Caffè Artigiano, has grown a lot since it opened and now has locations all over the city and even around Western Canada. 

If you're looking for a good cup of coffee and a treat, whether to enjoy at the cafe or on your walk, this cafe has got you covered.

Caffè Artigiano has rebranded and goes by Artigiano but the cafe still has a lovely welcoming vibe. They offer milk alternatives and seasonal flavors as well.

Angus T Bakery and Cafe Yaletown

Located in the neighborhood of Yaletown, Angus T Bakery and Cafe offers a pretty nice selection of freshly baked French pastries with a focus on croissants!

There's everything from a classic croissant to savory croissants and of course, sweet croissants like the hazelnut chocolate.

It's definitely hard to choose just one!

We also saw a cinnamon bun and pain suisse during our visit.

While sitting in the cafe, you can even see the bakers hard at work making the croissants!

Coffee and Tea drinks are available and  with a croissant it's the perfect breakfast or coffee break!

Angus T Bakery and Cafe is a popular breakfast spot, but there is plenty of indoor seating including bar seating to see all the baking action.

Pablo Cheese Tart BC

***As of, end of day Dec 20th, 2025, Pablo Cheese Tart has closed permanently. The small business owner was injured in a car crash a few months ago and it's difficult for him to run the shop full-time. We are sad to see the cafe go but look forward to seeing what's next from Pablo's owner. 

Pablo Cheese Tart is a Japanese bakery cafe that has opened locations in Canada! Pablo offers authentic Japanese cheese tarts that are both crispy, fluffy and melt in your mouth. 

Try a classic cheese tart or a flavored tart like matcha, chocolate or creme brulee.

Coffee drinks like your traditional Cappucino or Latte along with Matcha bubble tea are available at the bakery cafe.

They also offer soft serve with unique flavors like cheese! 

Pablo Cheese Tart bake their tarts in-store daily so customers can enjoy something warm and fresh out of the oven! If you visit at the end of the day, you might be out of luck and the tarts could all be finished. So stop by early!

It's always great to discover new dessert, especially something that warms you up on a cold Autumn or Winter day. Pablo Cheese Tart was delicious, why not grab a few to share? We will definitely be back for another tart!

Swedish Christmas Market Scandinavian Centre Burnaby

There's nothing like a Christmas market to help you get in the festive mood and start the holiday season. 

The Swedish Christmas Market or "Julmarknad" takes place this weekend at the Scandinavian Community Centre in Burnaby. Free entrance!

There are plenty of vendors selling everything from beautiful handmade crafts to snacks, both baked goods and candy. There were a couple of Finnish snack vendors as well.

Baked goods like saffron buns, or lussekatter, cinnamon buns and pepparkakor or ginger snaps were great snacks to try there. They are all things you would find for a Swedish fika or coffee break. The lussekatter are special for the Christmas season. 

The Cinnamon buns were tasty but not exactly as you'd find in Sweden. So much so, someone said, this isn't a bulle! (The cinnamon bun or kanelbulle usually has the flavors of both cardamom and cinnamon and pearl sugar on top). It was still nice to try.

A Swedish Christmas Market wouldn't be complete without glögg (mulled wine) and korv (hot dogs). You can add almond or raisins to your glögg if you'd like.

There was a covered outdoor area to sit and eat if you wanted some cool fresh air. It was quite busy in the building.

The market runs from 11am to 4pm. It's a nice, cozy place for an indoor market with several rooms and an upstairs area to explore. Check out the other events at the Community centre - there us a craft fair Nov 24th!

AVIK Cafe Vancouver

With a bright, modern interior, friendly vibe and delicious coffee and snacks, we enjoyed our visit to the new cafe, AVIK cafe in Vancouver! Rainy days are definitely for discovering new cafes and relaxing in a cozy spot!

There is plenty of seating indoors and there is space to bring a stroller in if needed, but check with the staff first.

Everything is baked fresh daily! Note: Not everything is available in the early morning.

Lunch options include salads and croissant sandwiches!

Alternative milk option, oat milk, is free of charge and you can choose which roast for your coffee.

Coffee break or "Fika" items like the Matcha cookie and butter croissant were available during our visit. The cookie was soft and delicious. The croissant was nice and flaky. 

Fully stocked during our weekday visit around 10am.

They also offer gelato! A nice treat especially with warmer weather on the way.

This cafe is open early and stays open till late. The perfect spot to grab a snack when you're craving it.
