We have been lucky to enjoy having such great staff at my kids' daycares. It's nice to have many options in the neighbourhood for daycare as well, this is one thing we have really enjoyed in Sweden.
Teachers work so hard that it's nice to thank them. We have given them gifts just before summer break and during Christmas time. Just small things, a small token of our appreciation.
Here are 5 gift ideas for hardworking teachers:
1) A snack bag with different snacks for all the teachers in the class to share and have during break time. There are usually 3-4 teachers per class. Just make sure there are no nuts if the school has a no nut policy.
2) Giftcards are always appreciated! Even something small from a coffee shop or store is nice or maybe a giftcard to the movie theater!
3) A small plant to take home. Maybe your child helped plant it? Or you can find something nice at a flower shop :)
We have been so lucky to have this custom bakery in our neighborhood in Gothenburg, Sweden! We love to support local businesses when we can and AweSum Cakes bakery is definitely one of our favorites.
Sumana or the "cupcake lady" as my kids call her, is super sweet and friendly. She is also quite talented and has made such beautiful designs for various birthday cakes we have ordered. Her custom cakes are really cute and you can tell she loves what she does :)
You can either choose a design or give her some ideas of what you'd like as a theme and she can plan with you to make your custom cake exactly what you want!
For our recent "Hejdå-fest" or "Farewell party" she helped with some mini-cupcakes!!
These were a huge hit with both the kids and adults! We ordered vanilla with pink and white icing and also some vegan vanilla minis as well. I picked them up fresh just a couple of hours before the outdoor party and they were so soft!
If you're in Gothenburg, Sweden, be sure to check out AweSum Cakes for your next cake or grab a cupcake treat (there are often some prepared in the fridge display)!!
Don't forget your snacks!
Checkout my past blogs on AweSum Cakes and their amazing custom cakes and cupcakes!!
If you are a fan of the Studio Ghibli art style and interested in seeing some unique spots from the Swedish city of Gothenburg, check out Elin Ostberg's beautiful artwork!
I have the lovely print of 'Järntorget' hanging in my office which I purchased during the Pandemic. It brightens up the room and I love that art-style. On my video calls, many colleagues have commented how beautiful and unique the artwork is!
You can choose from various print sizes and even order them framed! I've noticed a few new prints have been released recently.
After moving away from Gothenburg, it's a nice keepsake. We have had so many compliments on our prints.

On May 14th is Barnensdag or Children's Day in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Children's Day is organized by Innerstaden Gothenburg together with UNICEF Sweden to highlight children's rights.
Throughout the city there are outdoor activities for the kids including seeing a Fire Truck or Police car up-close, getting free Goodie bags, seeing live theater performances, listening to stories, and even try-out activities like decorating cupcakes 🧁
We enjoyed a Springtime visit to Liseberg recently! Liseberg is a theme park located in Gothenburg, Sweden that has re-opened for the spring/summer season.
We've missed this theme park the last few months and were lucky to be able to visit again.
There is still a virtual queue for the rides which we used for all of our favorites. We took turns going off to try the rollercoasters like Helix and Valkyria! The single rider queue for Valkyria goes fast, so line-up there if you dare!!
The Rabbit show in Kaninlandet is a big hit with our little ones and the characters are always entertaining. Now that restrictions have lifted, kids are allowed to greet the bunnies after the show.
There are many enjoyable treats at Liseberg like the Swedish style waffles at "Systrarna Olson Våffelbageri" made fresh and hot to order! You can top them with Jam, whip cream or even ice cream.
There are many different shops throughout the park offering treats and theme park souvenirs. If you want to take a break from the rides, you can pop in to see if there's anything interesting to take with you.
Unfortunately, we were not as lucky this time on the Lyckahjul or Lucky Wheel this time! It's a very popular theme park game where you see if the wheel stops on your number.
You can use cash or card at these games and it costs around 25-30kr for the group of numbers. There are chocolates, gummies, potato chips and even house decor as prizes to win. It's very popular as you can see in the photo!
Since it was a beautiful, sunny day, we tried a couple of boat rides too. Morotsresan in Kaninlandet and Skepp o'skoj at the other end of the park. The Skepp o'skoj attraction is a collaboration between Liseberg and the Stena Line ferries that go to Denmark and Germany. Once you are done, kids can take a photo to get their "boat drivers license" (a plastic card to take with you!)
One of my favorite rides from childhood was the swings! I even got to ride that and it's still as exciting to spin around and just like you are flying!!
Amid all that fun, we had to stop for snacks and drinks again at the Biergarten. At this outdoor Beer Garden, you can order using the QR code. This made it easier for us to just sit at the table and rest a bit before deciding on our snacks.
There's a popular Slushie drink at Liseberg which you can fill yourself. It's one of our favorite drinks to cool us off between rides ;) Choose from flavors like Raspberry, Cola, Blue ice and more!
Ahhhh, it's always a fun-filled day at Liseberg for both the Big and small ;)
If you're in Gothenburg, Sweden be sure to checkout Liseberg! It's definitely one of my Top 5 attractions for the city!
Thanks for reading and remember don't forget your snacks!
Liseberg is located in Gothenburg, Sweden In the summer time there are also concerts on the Liseberg grounds!
