Bugaboo Ant Travel Stroller

We purchased our Bugaboo Ant Travel stroller during the Pandemic. We have owned a few Bugaboo strollers in the last few years so we were excited to add a new one! We have been really satisfied with our Bugaboo strollers and use them quite often since we live in a walkable city.

Despite it being the Pandemic, we knew we could use this travel stroller during our future travels. We finally got a chance to do that during this past holiday season when we used it during our long haul flight and in the city.

Good

* Great for the airport!! We had a stopover in Munich airport which is quite large. Having this stroller made it much easier to get around with kids. It also allowed them to nap in the stroller between flights.

Bugaboo Ant Stroller

* Carry-on size. This amazing stroller fits in the overhead compartment!

* Spacious storage pockets on stroller for water bottle or snacks.

* Very light to carry and smooth to push

* Works with Bugaboo accessories like the back seat for second child to sit/stand.

* Easy to collapse and expand

Not Good

* Not very good on cobblestones or rough surfaces. Works best on smooth pavement or in airports.

* Wheels are small so dust/dirt can get stuck..

* A bit small for a taller toddler.

Overall

This is a great travel stroller and worth the investment. It's made to be lightweight and is very easy to collapse. We really appreciated having this stroller with us on our trip especially when we already had so much other luggage! Accessories you can order separately include a raincover and bottom bar for kids to step on.

Safe travels and remember don't forget your snacks!

TomToms Burrito Göteborg

TomToms Prinsgatan

We've been enjoying TomToms burritos in Gothenburg, Sweden for a few years now.

The slow cooked beef is tender, juicy and just perfect in a tortilla or in a salad bowl.

They also make plain cheese Quesadilla or a  chicken quesadilla for a kids option. Every order comes with Tortilla chips.

There are a few locations in Gothenburg now. Look them up for a quick lunch option!

Toddler Has a Nut Allergy

We discovered that my toddler had multiple allergies when he was a baby at just a few months old. He was tested for dairy and egg at the pediatrician's clinic as those are the two most common allergens for kids. They did both a blood test, and a skin prick test and it confirmed he is allergic to both.

Later, once he started daycare, he started to have skin reactions to soy and fish. We then had him tested for both and it was confirmed that he is allergic to both :(

But now, unfortunately, the list is growing as we found out at 2.5years old that he is allergic to nuts as well.

How did we find out or suspect he was allergic to nuts?

It happened during the holidays, when we were visiting family. The holidays mean many meals and only spending time with close family due to the Pandemic.

After one of the meals, we had cake for dessert. The cake that they packed up for us at the bakery was the wrong one - it turned out being a cake with a nut filling.

I gave him a few small tastes of it because he has tried very small amounts of nuts before and I thought it was almond. Within a few minutes he started to cough and I took him away from the table and gave him some antihistamines. We thought it could be milk or egg in that cake. But after maybe 10-20 minutes, his left eye started to get swollen - maybe he rubbed his eye we thought?

I checked with the bakery and the cake we had was Hazelnut cake. He had never tried hazelnuts, so we suspected it could be that.

We thought it would be better the next day, but his eye was still a little swollen. It wasn't until the following day, that his eye looked almost normal.

I made sure to contact the doctor once we were back in Sweden and after a blood test they confirmed he was allergic to nuts.

This week we spoke to the Doctor and got an update from the blood tests.

He IS allergic to nuts:
Hazelnuts, Cashews, Sesame, Peanuts and very allergic to Walnuts and because Pecans are related to Walnuts, Pecans too.

It's a sad day to find out he is allergic to so many things that we, his parents, enjoy. But as long as we are careful about what is in his food, we are just grateful his reaction wasn't any worse and now we know to avoid the nuts.

In most Swedish daycares, nuts are not allowed in any of the meals or on the premises, so we don't need to worry about any nut exposure there. Since he is also allergic to seeds like sesame, we gave the daycare a doctor's note that he needs meals without all the things he's allergic too. They have been offering him delicious alternatives and he likes having his own portions.

Eating in restaurants, or for takeaway, we need to be extra careful of cross contamination.

The doctor has also prescribed us some antihistamine tablets that are easier to take with us, instead of the liquid form antihistamine.

If you suspect your child has an allergy, I hope you have a clinic and pediatrician that is helpful and willing to do blood tests to confirm your allergy suspicions.

Will they outgrow these allergies?

It remains to be seen. Kids can outgrow egg and milk but for some it just takes longer. For the other allergies, his soy allergy has actually been improving! So we will see how it goes as he grows up.

Thanks for reading and remember, don't forget your snacks (that are allergy safe of course!)!

Kids Clothing Brand Villervalla

One of our favorite places to buy kids clothes is Swedish clothing brand, Villervalla.

Villervalla

Headquartered in the charming, cobblestoned neighbourhood of Haga, there is one Villervalla store on Haga Nygata and a Villervalla Outlet just at the end of Haga on the way to Järntorget.

We love checking out the outlet for out of season items such as winter or spring hats (it's very windy in Gothenburg), socks, leggings and gloves.

Villervalla Clothing

The Swedish clothing brand has been designing and manufacturing kid's clothing since 2005.

We have enjoyed the bright colors and unique patterns that Villervalla clothing offers. Their clothes are durable and affordable and can be mixed and matched for boys and girls. Most of the Villervalla clothing range is also made from organic cotton.

Of course, at the outlet you don't always find your size but sometimes you can and you save extra kroner when you do :)

Friends and family have enjoyed using their Villervalla kids clothing gifts from us  ;)

If you're in Gothenburg or visiting and looking for some nice, durable kids clothing checkout Villervalla in Haga! You can even order online if you can't make it into the store.

There is also a Villervalla location in Stockholm! We have recently visited and found some bright, colorful pants and winter accessories! Their winter outerwear has been so great this season! 👍

Banh Mi Shop Saluhallen

The Bahn Mi Shop Saluhallen

Saluhallen in Gothenburg, Sweden is a great place to try traditional Swedish pastries, Swedish cheeses, deli meats, fresh bread, even local, fresh meat cut by the butcher (in specific cuts you can't find in the regular grocery store). It's also a nice place to grab lunch to sit out in the sun.

There are a few different lunch restaurants at Saluhallen. The Banh Mi Shop, is the first Asian restaurant we've seen in Saluhallen during our time living in Gothenburg. It was exciting to see a new Vietnamese place open up! The Banh Mi shop, offers not only delicious Vietnamese sandwiches but a few other Vietnamese dishes and drinks.

The Bahn Mi Shop

We tried a Banh Mi sandwich, Pho bo and a Matcha Boba. You can choose how much sugar in your Boba too. Unfortunately, it was still too sweet and the Tapioca balls were hard. Maybe it was an off day and not many people order Boba there?

The Banh Mi sandwich on the other hand was delish! The bread was hot and fresh and the filling was tasty. Will definitely go back again for the Banh Mi!

Banh Mi Shop Gothenburg

Located near the Kungstorget entrance of Saluhallen, the Banh Mi Shop offers Takeaway or Dine in. There are a few tables if you'd like to eat in Saluhallen.

Semla day at Brogyllen Saluhallen

Brogyllen Saluhallen is ready for Semla day! There is another Brogyllen in Gothenburg that has indoor and outdoor seating but this one is a smaller location in Gothenburg's market hall.

Brogyllen has always been a favorite of ours for the delicious chocolate cakes!

Get a smaller Semla Muffin if you're more of a muffin person ;)

Or try a bigger Semla to share or just enjoy as your full meal ;)

Stop by to check out Brogyllen if you're in Gothenburg, Sweden. They are always well stocked with delicious breads and other sweet buns even if it's not Semla day!
