Le Musée en Herbe Paris

Le Musée en Herbe

A rainy day is a great time for an indoor activity like a museum! Unfortunately, on a Tuesday many of the museums in Paris are closed.

We did a little research and found a few museums that are open on Tuesdays that sounded interesting for the kids. We decided to try one near the Lourve called, Le Musée en Herbe.

During our visit in Jan 2024, there was an exhibition "Seth se la Joue" which features work from globally renowned French artist, Seth Globepainter (Julien Malland).

Le Musée en Herbe

He has traveled to various countries and created many artworks using themes from the places he has traveled.

Le Musée en Herbe
The artist loves to include kids in his artworks but doesn't show their faces. The artwork shows kids at play, exploring and playing games.

Le Musée En Herbe

When you arrive at the museum, you can put your jackets down in the jacket area and buy your ticket. The staff will let you know when you can go in. It can get crowded, especially on a rainy day, so they stagger the number of visitors.

Le Musée en Herbe

Before you go in, the staff gives you a little introduction, that was available in English as well, about the exhibit. The kids receive a booklet with some questions and activities to follow as they visit each room of the museum. There are several different versions of the booklets available, depending on the age of the child. English was also available.

Le Musée en herbe

This booklet was for kids under 6 yrs old. Kids work with their parents to answer the questions about the artwork.

The kids really enjoyed the interactive areas like Tic Tac Toe and the puzzles!

At the end of the visit, the kids can return their pens and get a little gift. There's also a small gift shop at the front of the museum where you can purchase some souvenirs of the exhibit and other art and drawing supplies.

It's a small museum with just a few different rooms but overall, we had a lovely visit with the kids! If you're in Paris or visiting the city and looking for a nice rainy day activity, go visit Le Musée en Herbe! The "Seth se la Joue" exhibit runs until May 2024.

Du Pain et des Idées Paris

Du pain et des idees

We were excited to visit popular and award winning boulangerie, Du Pain et des Idées, in Paris, France. Depending on what time you go, if can be really busy!

Du pain et des idees

Du Pain et des Idées translates to "Bread and Ideas" and this bakery was even recommended to us by locals as one of the best bakeries in Paris.

If you don't want to actually go inside the bakery, it is possible to order coffee from the coffee window.

Du Pain et des idées

All of the French pastries we tried, from croissants, to the chocolate escargot, and brioche were delicious and made fresh each day.

Du Pain Et Des Idées

Buttery, flaky and delicious croissants!

Friendly staff and great service even early in the morning. There is a lot to choose from at this bakery! If you get to visit more than once, it's great to try a couple of different pastries and breads each visit. The Pistachio Chocolate Escargot pastry was really good!

Du Pain et des idées

We also loved the Galette des Rois (available in January). These were often sold out by the end of the day.

The Macarons were delicious and didn't last long :) Kid's flavors were mango, strawberry and vanilla. You know it's too good when they won't share!

Ski school Barnens Sportskola Stockholm

Hammarbybacken

We tried the kids' ski lessons offered by Barnenssportskola Fröken Linda, which take place at Hammarbybacken in Stockholm. Hammarbybacken is the ski hill in the neighborhood of Hammarby Sjöstad.

We wanted to take advantage of the convenience and proximity of a ski hill in the city.

Hammarbybacken

You need to rent, boots, skis and a helmet as they are not included in the lessons.

For the skis we were told that they need to be 20-30cm shorter than the child's height. Shorter skis make it easier to learn.

I've never skied before so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was the very first time my little one had even tried to ski!

The lessons start with handing out green vests and name tags followed by warm up exercises like Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes 😀

Barnenssportskola

It was tough at the beginning to try skiing and not being allowed to use the poles. The teacher asked us to put the poles away before starting the first lesson. My child was upset and cried so we sat on our own for a bit.

Fortunately, my little one was brave enough to try without the support of the poles!

The first lesson consisted of getting used to going down a short hill and taking the conveyor belt up. First, they skied down with the help of a teacher, amd then kids could try by themselves. The assistant teachers were very patient with the kids! We appreciated that very much.

One challenge we found during the lessons,  was that the conveyor belt wasn't always working, which meant kids had to work extra to walk up before they could ski down again.

It took my child a few lessons to get the hang of it. The class moves on to the bigger "kids' hill" after the first lesson. Kids are so amazing in what they can accomplish!

Comptoir Harajuku Paris

Comptoir Harajuku

We found Comptoir Harajuku while out walking and exploring with the kids.

Located in Paris, France, this dessert shop's bright exterior definitely catches your attention, as you walk down this Paris street.

The cafe's interior is beautifully decorated and with indoor seating, and it's a nice spot to take a little break.

Comptoir Harajuku

If you're in the mood for ice cream, milkshakes, or Crepes or just want to warm up with a hot drink, visit Comptoir Harajuku!

Comptoir Harajuku
Crepe was delicious hot and fresh, with soft dough and pairs nicely with a hot drink.

This Japanese inspired creperie offers speciality crepes and custom crepes where you can choose fillings like ice cream or fruit!

Comptoir Harajuku

They also have scoops of sorbet! This was great for the little one who has a dairy allergy. This way they were able to enjoy a dessert at the same place, which is a nice bonus.

For milkshakes, you can choose from a few different flavors. The delicious vanilla milkshake comes topped with whip cream and sprinkles.

Comptoir Harajuku

Hot drinks include classic coffee drinks and matcha coffee!

We loved the concept and kids also enjoyed their snacks. If you're visiting Paris or live in the city, stop by Comptoir Harajuku and treat yourself to some delicious dessert!

Buddy Buddy Nut Butter Coffee Shop Paris

Buddy Buddy Paris

I visited Bubby Bubby Nut Butter Coffee Shop in Paris, France on our recent trip. Buddy Buddy is a Vegan coffee shop offering speciality coffee and signature nut butter infused drinks. You can choose either oat milk or sproud pea protein milk. They also make their own nut butters that come in several different flavors.

Buddy Buddy

Buddy Buddy

Buddy Buddy nut butters are available to purchase at the cafe and are also available in several locations like London. There is a Buddy Buddy location in Brussels as well.

Buddy Buddy was started with a goal to create a nut butter different from the ones on the market. Nut butters that didn't include preservatives and added sugars or artifical ingredients. They wanted to create a real experience through their Nut Butter coffee shops.

The cafe offers indoor and outdoor seating but no laptops - so it's a social meeting place not a working space.

After you order, you are given a beeper and can wait outside until your order is ready.

Buddy Buddy

It can get pretty busy on a weekend or a holiday but coffee should only be a short wait.

Kapé Paris

Kapeparis

Whether you want to sit for a coffee or try some yummy Filipino specialties, the Filipino coffee shop, Kapé, in Paris, France is a great cafe to visit!

Kape Paris

Located near the Oberkampf Metro station, Kapé is open on Wednesday to Friday and on the weekend. Kapé, which means "Coffee" in Tagalog (Filipino), is a lovely spot for a coffee break!

The cafe's beautiful interior is a bright and open space, where you can choose to sit by the windows or on the 'share' table in the middle of the room.

Kape Paris

Kape paris

Not enough time to sit for your coffee break? Takeaway is also available at Kapé and everything is packed with care in takeaway boxes. Bring your Filipino snacks with you to sit at a park or to munch on your way.

You can buy some Filipino sauces and other Filipino snacks at the cafe as well.

Kapeparis

In addition to classic coffee drinks, the Filipino coffee shop also has an Ube latte. Ube or purple yam, has a purple hue and is becoming a popular flavor for different desserts. There's also an Ube crinkle cookie on the menu. The Ube cookie had a very subtle Ube flavor and was nice and soft. The Ube latte paired nicely with the Ube crinkle!

Kape paris

It's good to note that on Wednesdays, not all of the Filipino snacks may be available since it's the first day of the week that the cafe is open. On Thursdays and on the weekend you get a better chance to have all the menu items available to you.

We have also tried the Pandesal which was more like a scone, not a fluffy brioche that we expected. You could choose jam and cream or a chicharon butter to go with the bun.

Kape Paris

The Puto, a Filipino steamed rice dessert, was soft and delicious. This was served with coconut jam. We really loved this one.

Kape Paris

With friendly staff and a nice selection of homemade Filipino treats, if you are visiting Paris or live in the city and curious about Filipino snacks, definitely check out the Filipino cafe Kapé! It's always great to support small businesses too.

Don't forget your snacks!

There is also a Filipino restaurant near the cafe called "Bobi Filipino Food" that we have yet to try as it was only open for dinner when we stopped by. The owners of Bobi actually also own the Kapé coffeeshop!
