Kids Favorite Pool Snacks

Pool time

Early morning so pool was quiet and empty!

On our recent trip to the Canary Islands, we spent some time at the pool after Kids club!

When you're at the pool and kids are splashing around exerting energy, you know they're going to need some water and snacks! Here are some of the kids' favorite snacks:

Melon or banana

Butter and bread

Crustless bread for the kids!

Pringles

Pringles

Lays chips

Digestive cookies

Digestive cookies

Pickles

Cucumbers

Olives

Sandwiches

For most of the snacks we could grab them from the hotel snack bar which was open until 5pm.

For others, we bought them at the supermarkets nearby. Most of the supermarkets had a great selection of snacks!

I even found Oat milk for the little one who is allergic to dairy!

Non-dairy milk alternatives

Are you headed on vacation soon and have plans for pool time with the kids?

Don't forget your snacks (and floaties for the kids)!

Strandvillans Cafe Sigtuna

Sigtuna Sweden

We visited the charming town of Sigtuna, Sweden. It was about a 45min drive from Stockholm so of course the first thing the kids needed was to run around and play!

Strandvillans Cafe Sigtuna

We parked by the the playground and right next to it was a cute little cafe called, Strandvillans Cafe.

Strandvillans Cafe

There's a beautiful garden at the cafe and in warmer weather, I'm sure the outdoor seating is full.

Strandvillans Cafe

The place to order is a bit tight, so be careful when grabbing your drinks. There is seating on the main floor of the cafe, but also some seating upstairs.

Strandvillans Cafe

The cafe offers traditional Swedish pastries, cookies and sandwiches as well as hot drinks. The drinks were actually hot compared to other cafes where a latte is served warm instead.

The Swedish convenience store, Pressbyrån has started a campaign for Prostate Cancer awareness in the month of November.

They are now selling "Lusseballen" in their stores. These buns are Lussekatter (or traditional Saffron buns) but shaped in a 'different' way! Read more about Lussekatter on my previous post.

This unique campaign definitely stands out and it's great way to support Prostate Awareness month. Also, a good reminder for Men to test themselves.

Swedish Christmas Treats

With the Winter season comes the cold,  and shorter days. You wake up, it's dark and when you're done work, it's dark. What better way to brighten your day and embrace Winter then by enjoying a "Julfika" or Swedish Christmas Season Fika (coffeebreak with something sweet)!

Dulce Biskvi

Dulce Biskvi

When we first moved to Sweden, I discovered a little treat called "Choklad Biskvi" translated to Chocolate Bisque in English.

Choklad Biskvi

It's so good on its own or with a hot drink!☕️

Recently, I have found a "Dulce Biskvi", so I had to try it.

While a Choklad biskvi is chocolate covered top with a soft Almond cookie bottom and filled with chocolate cream, the Dulce Biskvi has a dulce de leche flavored cream and caramel in the very center.

Dulce Biskvi

It was surprisingly better than I expected. If you want to take these home to eat later, make sure you keep it in the fridge. They taste best, cold from the fridge.

I've also found flavored biskvi like lemon and raspberry.

Nice to see and try different flavors from the original Choklad Biskvi.

If you're in Sweden, try the Dulce biskvi or any biskvi at your next Swedish fika!

Don't forget your snacks!

Kladdkakans Dag

Kladdkaka
(image from ICA)

Kladdkaka, a "mud cake" or "sticky chocolate cake" in English, reminds me a bit of lava cake. When you cut into it, melted chocolate in the center oozes out. It's quite delicious if you enjoy chocolate.

In Sweden, they love to celebrate Food holidays, specifically sweet, desserts or pastries! On Nov 7th, they celebrate Kladdkakans Dag in honor of this chocolate cake!

Kladdkakans Dag

You can find this Swedish cake everywhere, from local cafes to the grocery store. There's even some Vegan options.

Kladdkakans Dag

Serving it warm tastes the best, with a dollop of whip cream or scoop vanilla ice cream or both! :)

Popular Swedish Christmas Drinks

When you're in Sweden and winter has arrived, you will be spending a lot of time at home and indoors. It gets so dark that many homes use candles. Christmas lights on windows and balconies really helps brighten the neighborhood! It's definitely a cozy season in Sweden, so it's nice to enjoy some cozy wintertime drinks!

Popular Christmas season drinks 🎄 :

Glögg, or mulled wine

There are many brands and varieties of glögg. You add nuts and raisins to your cup if you like.

Julmust

Jul means Christmas. It's a popular Christmas soft drink that is similar to cola or root beer. It's a dark soda that tastes a bit like Dr. Pepper to me.

Coffee

Coffee with seasonal flavors, like mint or gingerbread ("Pepparkakslatte") can also be found at various cafes in Sweden. Of course, a regular latte is perfect too ❤️

Apple Cider

Hot Apple Cider is available at some restaurants like Restaurant Göteborg.

Whether you enjoy these Christmas drinks at a family celebration, or out at a cafe or other Christmas gathering, enjoy!

Pepparkakor and Lussekatter are popular to have during the Christmas season too!
