....surprise, they're allergic... Kids and allergies can be scary especially when it's something you didn't know they were allergic to.
My little ones, unfortunately, both have allergies.
My daughter who outgrew her egg allergy at 2.5 years old has a mild nut allergy to peanuts and cashews (pistachios too since they're related). We've known about her nut allergy since she was a toddler so we have avoided those nuts since. We found out about her cashew allergy from eating pesto! Apparently the "cheaper" pestos use cashews!
Recently, when we were out eating with friends at a cafe, my daughter tried a spinach pie. She's had spinach pie before and has had no reaction, however this pie had some sunflower and pumpkin seeds on it. After eating a few bites she started complaining her throat was bothering her, she couldn't swallow and tongue was itchy.
I didn't have any anti-histamines with me but we went down the block to buy some from the pharmacy. Thankfully, there was one just down the street. After she had it with water she was feeling better. (The pharmacy staff were also very helpful!)
Later that night, she threw up everything she had eaten. It was a delayed reaction :(
I asked for her to be tested for seed allergies and we found out she is allergic to pumpkin seeds. Now that we know, we can avoid this and inform her school as well.
I'll definitely remember to bring some anti-histamines for emergencies on our future outings.
It's nice to have a Vegan Grocery store and cafe in the city to find some allergy friendly snacks and treats! Check out my past blog on the Goodstore.
Don't forget your snacks! (Allergy friendly for kids who have allergies!)

We flew from Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, Sweden with 1 set of grandparents and kids to our Fall getaway in Rhodes, Greece.
Check out my blog about the Tui vacation.
Here are some tips for flying with BOTH Seniors and Kids.
Before your trip
-Check grandparents' bags to see that they packed extra clothes, medicines are in carry-on and that their check-in bag can close.
-Book a taxi ahead of time.
We have been very satisfied with Taxi Stockholm. You can book ahead of time for them to pick you up at home and take you to the airport. They can also meet you at the airport to take you home (you just need the flight number when calling to book). You can also mention if you need kids' car seats and they can have it ready for you!
-Bring some water for the taxi in case grandparent's to drink medicine on the way to the airport.
-Remind everyone to use the bathroom before!
-Give yourself an extra 20 minutes to get downstairs for the taxi
At the Airport
-Find a bench for Seniors to sit and call them over only once you get closer to check-in desk.
-Don't forget to mention Special Assistance for the seniors! They can help provide wheelchairs and getting them through Security.
-Get takeaway food if you're flying during dinner time.
-Fill your water bottle after security
For the Plane
-Ask the flight attendants for help if you need it, they've been patient and helpful during our flights.
-Bring extra clothes for both groups - kids and seniors.
-Bring extra masks for both as well.
-Select seats near the bathrooms.
-Aisle seats work best for grandparents.
-Minimize your carry-on bags since your hands will be full carrying things for kids, yourself and seniors.
-Don't forget your snacks! For both groups!
Enjoy your trip!

Easter and the long weekend is fast approaching. Buying food and decorations for the Easter celebration is on many people's checklist.
In Sweden, there are colorful feather decorations to put in front of your door or in a vase, paper eggs to fill with candy, and even Påskmust or a fizzy Easter soda (similar to Julmust but rebranded). It tastes a but like Cherry Coke if you've ever tried that.
It's also a tradition for kids to dress up as witches and go door to door to ask for treats (like Halloween)!
There are many places to go for Easter candy and chocolates, or Easter cakes and bread. Other traditional foods are herring, sausages (princekorv), meatballs, potatoes, ham, lamb, and hard boiled eggs topped with Swedish Kaviar.
Lidl is a popular store to get food and candy.
Making decorations is a great activity for the kids too! Coloring eggs and making paper cards are popular. Easter egg hunts are something we look forward to!
In Sweden, we get a 4-day long weekend, and many elementary students also get the week after Easter off for "Easter Break". Many of the museums like the outdoor museum, Skansen, offer Easter themed activities for the kids.
Whatever you plan for the holiday, hope you find everything you need for your Easter celebration ! Happy Easter 🐣 or Glad Påsk (in Swedish)
Don't forget your snacks!
During our Fall trip to Rhodes, Greece 🇬🇷 , we were so lucky not to have to worry about what to eat. It was our first time experiencing the all-inclusive option at a resort.
After our trip, we can understand why families choose the all-inclusive option! It was so convenient to pick the kids up from kids club and take them right away to eat lunch. No waiting after ordering, just lining up to grab food.
During our trip, we were also able to try a few different Greek Snacks!
There were the Greek cream puffs, called Soudakia, pastries filled with custard. They were sometimes served plain and sometimes with icing.
We also tried delicious Greek Baklava sweetened with honey!
Loukoumades, or fried donuts, was another snack we found in Greece.
Greek ice coffee is also quite popular in the warm weather. A nice cold drink is a nice way to cool off!
If we were craving potato chips, we could easily head to the hotel gift shop to grab some!
We had a wonderful stay in Rhodes, Greece and enjoyed all the Greek desserts and snacks! We will definitely be back!

I stopped at Bubble tea place that I had marked on my map in the Summer. It's a cute little shop located in the neighborhood of Södermalm in Stockholm, Sweden called Mo Mo Cha.
In addition to Bubble Tea, they offer bubble waffles and ice cream. They also sell the cutest stuffies!
The ice coffee bubble tea was delicious. You can choose how sweet you'd like your drink as well, which is always appreciated.
Bubbles were fresh and it was a great treat between errands! Now that the weather is warming up, it's an even better treat!
