Bao Bakery Vancouver

Bao Bakery

Located in Vancouver's Collingwood neighborhood, Bao Bakery, is a Chinese/Filipino bakery offering a delicious selection of baked goods, pastries and hot/cold drinks. It's a great place to grab a pastry and latte to start your day. You can even order food delivery from the comfort of your home (uber eats and skip the dishes)!

The most popular savory items are the Chinese-Filipino steamed buns of course, filled with chicken, pork or a combination.
They also have curry beef buns, weiner buns, egg rolls and chinese dumplings(siumai).

For sweet snacks there is so much to choose from! Try a fried sesame ball, filled with purple yam ube or red bean or maybe one of their delicious apple tarts. The coconut buns are soft and buttery. Everything is freshly made!

The bakery is an expansion to the popular Newtown bakery in Chinatown! That's where we first tried these delicious steamed buns and other chinese pastries years ago.

There are usually a few tables in the small cafe but currently they've blocked off indoor seating because of the Pandemic.

Note: They often run out of buns, like the curry beef buns or coffee buns, so if you want them, you can order to reserve some in the morning. And unfortunately, there aren't any gluten free options at the bakery.

We really enjoy visiting this bakery during our visits to Vancouver. Our favorite treats were the coffee bun, fried sesame balls and of course the steamed buns!

If you're visiting Vancouver or live in the city and are looking for a sweet or savory snack, check out Bao Bakery. It's great to support local places as well!

Don't forget your snacks!
