Located in the neighborhood of Östermalm in Stockholm, Sweden, we visited the Swedish History Museum or Historiska Museet (in Swedish) for the first time during the Christmas break.
There is a lot to see and learn at this museum! The historical timeline visitors can follow takes them through the history of vikings and onwards with various artifacts from how they used to live.
For kids, there are activities and interactive exhibits to explore, making it a nice family activity together.
There is a magnet board to practice writing words in Viking Rune. Toddler enjoyed this activity very much, except when other people wanted to try...
The "Gold Room" located in the lower floor is very popular with gold jewelry and little artifacts.
The museum also has it's own cafe, Restaurang Rosengården. You can take a break after looking at some exhibits or get a snack before starting your tour around the museum. During the weekdays, the cafe also offers a daily lunch menu with salad buffet.
Check out their website for lunch times.
Enjoy your museum visit and remember, don't forget your snacks!
