You're on your own for lunch but don't want to takeout and prefer not to sit at a table alone... Japanese Solo restaurant, Oishinoya is a great option.

Order on the kiosks then grab tea and sit at one of the solo spots. The menu is small and the main dish is the Beef and Rice or Gyudon.

Place your ticket (receipt) and ring the bell to get your food! Staff will grab your ticket and hand you your order under the curtain. 

Each solo spot comes with different toppings, water, utensils. Tea is located near the Takeout area. 

The food was delicious and you can add side soup or Karaage for a few extra dollars.

Shiro Japanese Restaurant

Offering delicious Japanese food, from sushi rolls to donburi bowls, Shiro Japanese Restaurant in Vancouver is always a treat!

They are open for lunch Wed-Sat and offer lunch specials on bento boxes and rolls. Their daily specialities change too. Various fish or rolls determined by the chef.

Craving something sweet after the meal, there's ice cream for dessert and special puddings - like matcha pudding - which is quite delicious!

For dining in, they have only a few tables, good for parties of 4-6, the rest are 2 seats or there's bar seating, where you can see the sushi chefs at work.

Kids love the avocado rolls and udon. They can remove the sesame if you prefer or have allergies. Just ask your server.

Everything is so fresh and tasty at this place. The service has always been really good which makes for a great dining experience.

Dutch Wooden Shoe Vancouver

Looking for a family friendly brunch place that offers generous portions, dutch style pancakes and breakfast? Visit Dutch Wooden Shoe in the neighborhood of Mount Pleasant in Vancouver.

This place has been open for a few decades and photos of customers are part of the decor!

There are kids meals where kids can choose a savory pancake with bacon and egg or sweet pancake with fruit or chocolate. French toast is also on the kids menu options.

There is a lot to choose from in the regular menu. It all depends on what you feel like.

Portions are pretty big so it's great to share.

The Dutch pancakes come with all sorts of options. You can go simple, and get a pancake with a topping like apple and cinnamon or you can get a speciality pancake with a combo like smoked salmon, cheese and tomato.

For dessert we liked the Poffertjes, (pronounced puff’ ur jis) or Dutch Mini Pancakes are small, fluffy yeasted treats made in a special cast iron pan.

They are ready in just a few minutes so you can take them to go or enjoy a quick dessert.

The staff were welcoming and checked up on us often making sure to refill our coffees. 

We really enjoyed our brunch at Dutch Wooden Shoe and will definitely be back. It's a great place for families and everyone leaves satisfied.

The Cafe Brussels

After a busy morning that included a train ride and walking around the city, we were ready to find a place to sit and escape the rain. Located in Bourse de Bruxelles, the beautiful Stock Exchange building, The Cafe, is the perfect spot to sit indoors.

With it's beautiful interior, it's a lovely place to have a small bite to eat or a drink. There are even kid-friendly options. A spacious cafe with many tables to choose from, The Cafe, has plenty of space for a stroller. They also have high chairs if needed.

Along with classic coffee drinks, there is a nice selection of Belgian beers. You can also order cheese to go with your drink.

For snacks, they offer cheese and meat plates, toasted sandwiches, a daily soup and some desserts like waffles!

The service was good and food was delicious. Overall, we all had a great experience at The Cafe. Bourse de Bruxelles was renovated in 2023 and houses a museum, another restaurant and is an amazing place to go to admire the ceilings and the building's architecture.

Carpe Diem Bakery and Tea Room Bruges

Carpe Diem Bakery and Tea Room in Bruges is a nice spot to sit or grab something to enjoy as you're walking around Bruges.

There are tables outside if you get something from the bakery, along with indoor seating as well.

The waffles were delicious! You can choose to have it with just powdered sugar, add sauce or seasonal fruit.

They also offer some lunch and breakfast items like customizable omelettes or sandwiches.

For drinks, dining at the Tea room, we had to try the Tea and coffee.

The ambiance was really cozy and a horse drawn carriage sometimes passes by on the street outside.

Good, attentive service and kid-friendly, we had a relaxed lunch at Carpe Diem Tea Room before starting our day in Bruges.

Fanny Udde Bistro Stockholm

Located near the Sickla shopping centre, in Nacka (a city in Stockholm county), Fanny Udde Bistro is a lovely place for lunch, fika or even a weekend brunch with family.

It's a restaurant in an old two-storey house, so there are seating areas outside on the grassy yard or indoors in a few of the rooms.

There is a ramp at the entrance for those who can't do stairs. The inside is a bit cozy so it's easier to park a stroller outside. However, when there is outdoor seating, it's a great place for lunch and there is plenty of space for stroller parking!

For lunch, you can order from your table and then take salad and bread. Coffee is also included with your meal.

If you want something sweet with your coffee for dessert, you can add it for 

an additional cost. 

We have enjoyed some delicious meals at Fanny Udde!

The grandparents have also enjoyed lunch at Fanny Udde so it is also manageable lunch spot for seniors too.

Birdies Eats and Drinks Burnaby

A newly opened restaurant, by Earl's, Birdies Eats and Drinks is a great family-friendly restaurant with a lovely vibe and relaxing atmosphere. Located in Burnaby, Canada, the restaurant is spacious and airy with several seating sections to choose from.

Not sure whether to sit out on the patio or indoors? Ask for a table near the unique Garage door that they put in just for the restaurant!

Birdies' Passion fruit Spritz 

At Birdies, weekends are for brunch and it has it's own menu! Brunch items include a Birdies take on bacon and eggs, a delish Avocado Benedict and much more!

There is juice for the kids and the server reminds you to mention any allergies when you order. The crispy pave style potatoes were a favorite!

The restaurant is California-inspired, everything from the beautiful artwork and decor to the vibrant, fresh colors, of each dish and drink.

There are only a few options for dessert on the brunch menu. We tried the Drunken Tiramisu which was huge and great for sharing.

Birdies is open all day and serves lunch, dinner and Happy Hour. Their Happy Hour is everyday from 3 to 5pm, onor 9 to late on Sun-Thu and 10 to late Fri and Sat.

At Birdies, you not only enjoy some delicious eats and drinks but pretty great customer service too. The friendly staff really make sure you enjoy your dining experience!

Sjöstadens Marina Restaurant

 

We have enjoyed kid-friendly lunch at Sjöstadens Marina in the neighborhood of Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm, Sweden.

Their daily lunch options change all the time, so be sure to check the Website for the week's "Dagens Lunch" menu.

You can choose from a meat, fish or vegetarian option and a salad bar and coffee are included. 

The restaurant was recently closed for some  renovations and now they are open again with the same friendly staff!

The restaurant is very kid-friendly with a menu for kids as well. My kids always enjoy the steak and fries (you can ask for it to be well-done and no bernaise or any other sauce if you have allergies)!

Park strollers outside or ask staff if you can bring them in. We have brought our stroller in on a cold winter day and parked it by the entrance. 

Outdoor seating is available during the warmer months so why not get a little sun on your lunch break? We sat outdoors often with the visiting in-laws who really enjoying lunch here too!

Madame Thu Vietnamese Restaurant Stockholm

It's always nice to try new restaurants and support local businesses!

Madame Thu is a Vietnamese restaurant that is located in the neighborhood of Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm, Sweden. 

Offering traditional Vietnamese dishes for lunch and dinner, Madame Thu is quickly gaining popularity. A daily lunch menu is also available for those who enjoy a "Dagenslunch".

The restaurant also offers some unique coffee drinks like Vietnamese Ice coffee and Hanoi eggpresso - both were delicious.

We have enjoyed their Beef Pho, Vietnamese noodle soup, and Beef Luc Lac dishes. 

Even the takeaway Pho was tasty and kids can't get enough of this delicious noodle dish.

Their Minced Beef wrapped in Lolot leaves dish was really tasty! This is a dish we haven't seen at other Vietnamese restaurants.

Madame Thu brings the traditional flavors of Vietnam to the neighborhood. If are in Stockholm and enjoy delicious Vietnamese food, or curious to try it, be sure to stop by for lunch or dinner and try some of their delicious dishes. Great to support local businesses as well!

Serving traditional Swedish dishes or "husmanskost" and with many locations around Stockholm, the Eatery is a great lunch option!

The daily lunch or "dagenslunch" includes a salad buffet with lots of healthy salad toppings, to build your own salad.

Lunch also includes coffee or tea and something sweet. Depending on the day of the week, it could be a dessert like delicious apple crumble or chocolate mousse!

We have enjoyed Eatery lunches when we can. It's nice to have a restaurant like it in the neighborhood and the food has been tasty!
